Hubs for tomorrow
Supporting small and medium-sized enterprises and employees in the (further) development and implementation of innovative learning approaches to shape the digital transformation
The Hubs for tomorrow ("Zukunftszentren") programme (2021-2027) aims to build on the findings and results of the ESF funding programme Hubs for tomorrow (2014-2020) in the eastern German Länder and the federal programme Hubs for tomorrow (AI) in the western German Länder and Berlin.
The programme adresses three target groups: businesses, especially small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), their employees and (solo) self-employed people. Especially SMEs and their employees require advice on matters regarding the digital transformation. The programme therefore promotes the learning skills of the three target groups in the transformation processes and supports their ability to innovate and shape change.
As part of the programme, several "regional hubs for tomorrow" will be funded. They will analyse the various regional challenges and needs of the target groups, and address companies and their employees with tailored information and qualification offers. Further, businesses, first and foremost SMEs, will be supported and assisted in the participative or co-creative and human-centric introduction of digital technologies and AI-based systems. One coordinating hub for tomorrow will support the "regional hubs for tomorrow" by networking activities and providing the latest knowledge from labour and organisational research with regards to the digital, demographic and ecological transformation processes. The coordinating hub for tomorrow will gather research on learning activities and business` use cases with regards to digital technologies and will make them available for stakeholders in the labour market.
To support self-employed people in shaping digital change, a "house of the self-employed" will be established to provide knowledge and networking opportunities for self-employed, especially solo self-employed people. It will support the establishment of interest groups and promote self-regulatory processes that are suitable for improving the remuneration and working conditions of self-employed and platform workers.
